Description
San Diego County Credit Union is San Diego's largest locally owned financial institution. This credit union is based in San Diego, California. SDCCU was founded in 1938 as San Diego County Employees Credit Union and was formed to provide for the financial needs of local county government employees. During the 1970s, San Diego County Employees Credit Union changed its name to San Diego County Credit Union and expanded its membership to include all San Diegans. Today, SDCCU is open to everyone living or working in San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties.
SDCCU is a privately held company with no external stockholders. It has over 225,000 members and 28 branch offices in its three-county service area. Its deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration and it is an Equal Housing Lender.
With more than $5.4 billion in assets, San Diego County Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit union wholly owned and operated by its members. Unlike most other financial institutions, San Diego County Credit Union does not issue stock or pay dividends to outside stockholders. Instead, earnings are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher dividends on deposits and lower fees.
SDCCU offers FREE checking with eStatements, direct deposit, Visa credit and free debit cards, certificate and money market accounts, auto and home loans, an array of eServices and much more. SDCCU is proud to be the first credit union headquartered in San Diego to offer SDCCU Mobile Deposit.
SDCCU has a large portfolio of sponsorships, including the annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl college football bowl game, and the Big Bay Balloon Parade, a tradition connected to the Holiday Bowl.
